Business owners may or may not have video creation and editing skills – something that can be a big problem in today’s online world. Videos regularly receive the most engagement on social networks, keep visitors on websites longer, and make conversions more likely. Videos are highly shared and are in the perfect format to go viral. But without experience making ads, hiring an outside creative was one of the only options for business owners.
Now, the YouTube Director suite of products may be changing that.
Google says they wanted to make video ads accessible for small businesses, from dog walkers to barber shops, who can really benefit from reaching and engaging their customer base online. In a bid to serve small business owners without expert video-making chops, they rolled out the YouTube Director suite of products.
There are three new offerings in the suite: A video ad creation app, YouTube Director onsite, and automated video. We’ll give details about each below.
1. YouTube Director for Business app
The new app is available for Apple iPhones right now – it’s free and it enables people with zero editing experience to create an attractive, professional video ad for their business. You do it all from your smartphone, and the best part? It only takes about 20 minutes.
2. Youtube Director onsite
YouTube Director onsite is the second product in the suite. It’s a service that will send a professional filmmaker to your location to shoot and edit a video ad for your company. The best part? It’s free if your business spends at least $150 in YouTube advertising.
YouTube Director onsite isn’t available in every US city yet, but it’s slowly rolling out in some of the biggest: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, LA, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. Google plans to add more cities soon, after they’ve seen how audiences in these major cities are responding.
3. YouTube Director automated video
Finally, the third product in the YouTube Director suite is an automated video service. Sometimes, time constraints and priorities keep business owners from taking a hands-on approach to their video ads. That’s what this product is for. Automated video takes existing images – app screenshots, your company logo, etc. – and builds them automatically into a video.
It’s available globally. You have to reach out to a Google expert to get started with this product – that number is 1-855-500-2756.
With the addition of three new products, the YouTube Director suite could be a huge hit with small business owners. Instead of hiring video professionals or learning complex processes, you can instead choose to create video ads yourself, hire a professional to come to you and make them, or go for an automated video made from existing brand assets, like logos and app screenshots.
Do you think you’ll give the new YouTube Director suite a try? We’d love to hear how you manage to create video ads for your small business. Are video ads the best method for engaging your audience? Have you used something else that works well? Leave your answers in the comments!
