This week, we caught up with Shep Hyken, customer service keynote speaker and expert.

Shep graciously shared his 5 favorite things with us in a short interview this week. These are a few of his favorite things…
1. I love a great customer service experience
Shep knows the value of customer service experiences – he’s made a career out of it! That’s why he enjoys being on the receiving end of a truly great customer experience. It reminds him why he’s in this business.
2. I love good people who truly care about other people (both customers and colleagues).
Shep has worked with thousands of people and spoken to hundreds of thousands more. When you’ve met and mingled with that many, the good starts to stand out and become more important.
3. I love when a person and/or company makes doing business with them easy.
Who doesn’t love it when business is easy? Shep reminds us of the simple pleasure of doing business with no hiccups or issues.
4. I love when my expectations are exceeded.
We can’t often change our expectations to be lower, but every now and then, someone comes along and exceeds our expectations, making us raise the bar. This happens in customer service all the time. Receiving exceptional service makes you raise the bar for all future customer service you receive – and Shep teaches people how to offer that level of service all the time.
5. I love when people and companies respond quickly to questions, help and even complaints.
Fast responses show us that the other person or company is invested in the relationship – they want it to continue – and that feels good.
