Want your blog posts to receive more traffic and reach the widest audience possible? If you’re publishing your blog posts on a schedule using a content calendar, you’re already ahead of the game.
If you’re paying attention to the days and times you’re publishing blog posts each week, you’ll reap the rewards with huge surges of blog traffic and more new readers.
But first, you need to know which days produce the most blog traffic during the week.
What days receive the most blog traffic during the week?
Kapost is a suite content marketing tool (pun intended) that helps you manage the entirety of your content marketing practices, from planning to strategy execution. They studied their own blog traffic and found that there are two days of the week that produce the most blog traffic by a pretty significant amount.
While one of the researchers at Kapost thought Monday’s posts would receive the most traffic (the start of the work week, people checking their favorite blogs after the weekend, etc.), the results actually showed that the days that receive the most blog traffic during the week are Tuesday and Wednesday.
This informed the Kapost researchers to start publishing their best content on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to receive the most traffic possible on those days.
A great way to test this finding on your own blog is to look back at your post stats for the last year. Notice the days and times of publication, as well as the number of page views (traffic) for each post. You’ll find the trend for surges in blog traffic during the week on your blog, which will give you an even better idea of when to concentrate your best content.
If you want to skip this step, that’s fine, too. Kapost also looked at data for their 13,500+ customers and found that Tuesday and Wednesday are, on average, the days that produce the most blog traffic in general, although certain industries may differ.
Leveraging blog traffic during the week
It could do the same for you. Start concentrating your best content on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to milk the most traffic possible from them. The more shares and traffic your post receives right away, the better it will perform long-term. You’ll bring dozens of new leads to your blog with this strategy and ensure your content lands in front of more people.
Additionally, you can take advantage of increased traffic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays by publishing more than one blog post on those days. Make sure to stagger your posts so that they don’t both publish at once – you will unnecessarily rob both posts of page views. Publish one early in the morning, around 6:00am, and the second later in the morning, around 9:00am.
- Publish blog posts on Tuesday and Wednesday to get the most blog traffic
- Publish more than one blog post on Tuesday and Wednesday to generate additional traffic
- Concentrate your best content on Tuesday and Wednesday if you publish more than 2 posts/week
- Stagger blog posts to publish at least 2 hours apart as early as possible
