Every entrepreneurs’ journey from forming an idea to building a successful business is different. Some entrepreneurs begin their journeys after having an epiphany or because they desire change in their lives. Others may be inspired by the thought of a new career and would rather work for themselves than continue to build another person’s dreams.
Sometimes having the right mentor or being desperate enough to make a change is what makes a person go from a regular Joe to a successful entrepreneur. After looking into almost a dozen entrepreneurs’ stories, it’s clear that there are some similarities in what types of things inspire a person to start a business. Let’s examine a few of these inspirations.
Wanting to be in Charge of One’s Schedule
The daily grind of 9-5 can become very draining, repetitive and mundane after many years of the same thing. When you start to see other people making their own schedule or having some variations in their week, it’s easy to feel envious of the flexibility they experience.
There are not many people who love having a set time to arrive at work, take lunch, and leave work each day. Entrepreneurs or self-employed folks have the ability to take 3-day weekends as they please, extra vacations and necessary sick days.
The catch for these people is they are their own bosses and only have to answer to their clients. With proper planning, it’s simple to take time off as desired. Many entrepreneurs claim that it’s more painful to stay at a dead-end job than it is to take a leap of faith to self-employment. They state that the hustle is worth the freedom.
Sometimes, being told they can’t do something is all the inspiration a business person needs to take the leap of faith into opening their own business. Being told that your dream or vision is impossible, would never work, or is unrealistic may be the push you need to make it happen. Are you driven by proving people wrong and proving to yourself that you are capable of anything?
When a parent wants to be a stay-at-home mom or dad while still bringing in an income, many may believe it is impossible or too risky. But finding a company to start from home that benefits people and solves a problem or fills a need can allow you to schedule your time each day while taking care of your kids.
Most parents dream about losing the commute, making their own schedules and being able to stay home while they work. Sometimes it’s better to find the joy of creating your own money-making opportunities without working in what others would deem a “real job.”
Setting your own Rules
Entrepreneurs love the idea of creating money-making concepts that allow them to set their own rules. Sometimes they are taught this principle as children while running a small snow removal business or lemonade stand. This teaches them to look at life as being full of opportunities rather than designed for all to take the same path.
There are many different inspirations that entrepreneurs claim for their success. The most important thing, however, is that they learn to follow their hearts to do something they are passionate about. Their work becomes rewarding and exciting, and it allows them to have the control that they desire in their lives.
By learning that you control your own destiny, you’ll work harder and smarter to have a lifestyle in which you make money, live stress-free and get to do things a little differently. The only thing that is stopping you today is you.
